Stacey and I went to Solvang, CA this weekend. I’ve known about it for a long time, but just never went. I really liked it. The houses and food and buildings were just great. We went to the Red Viking restaurant for lunch and I had a delicious liver pate sandwich. Then for dinner, we [...] Stacey and I went to Temecula to celebrate my 36th birthday. We went to two wineries: Van Roekel and Maurice Car’rie. Both are owned by the same people so if you go to one, you get a 20% discount when you go to the other. The highlights were the Carbernet at Van Roekel which was [...] Stacey and I went to the Ren Faire today. Wendy was there. We had a good time and saw the Merry Wives of Windsor, whom I had not seen before. The juggling brothers were there again and the little one is getting bigger. We keep wondering what will happen when he’s too big to lift [...] Stacey and I found a cool letterbox in Point Loma. It was near Kellog beach and in between two yacht clubs. After finding the letterbox, we went to Point Loma Seafoods and had a halibut sandwich that Stacey liked a lot. Stacey and I went to Clearman’s Steak and Stein in Pico Rivera. It did not disappoint. Very good food and a great atmosphere. None of that trendy modern stuff Chef Ramsey’s always promoting can be found here; this place is is classic steakhouse. I was expecting it to have more of a German influence (hence [...] I’ve been wanting to go to Huntington Gardens for a long time. I believe that we went there many years ago when my family rented a beach house in Newport Beach, California and my relatives from the East coast joined us there. I was really impressed with the gardens back then, and I didn’t remember [...] 
I got a job working at South El Monte High School as a chemistry and biology teacher. This summer I packed up all my belongings and moved to Pico Rivera. I’ve had the computer that this blog was on packed up in storage for months now, so there has been very little posting. But now [...] We got word that someone visited the Balboa letterbox! All’s well with the box. Great spot for the plant (took us through the international houses, through that old oven, wonderful desert garden, down a green lush trail). Well done. Thanks for the adventure. Stacey and I created the Balboa Letterbox and hid it under a small wooden bridge behind the Balboa Park Club building in Balboa Park. We got a bunch of stuff for the letter box from the Japanese store that Stacey knows of and we made a stamp out of an eraser.
